Corporate Social Responsibility
Global Relations
Global Relations is a Swedish NGO (Non-Governmental
Organization) with development programs in Kenya. The focus
for their programming is on human rights development and
addressing poverty issues. We, at Sandavy Guest House and
Tours support and work with this worthy organization.
In addition to other professions, members of the NGO are
mainly teachers and students from Swedish senior high schools
and universities. Funding comes from corporations, private
donations and membership fees. In addition the Swedish
government (SIDA) also provides some funding for educational
programs and equipment.
Global Relations projects include:
-
Mini Rock Day Care Centre: Operated in
the Kibera slum for 28 children of
HIV+/AIDS single mothers. Some of the children are also HIV
positive.
-
Kibera Craft: Mothers are involved in
producing handicrafts, which are marketed in Kenya at the
Creative House gift shop and in Sweden.
-
Creative House: Located in Kilimani,
Creative House focuses on educational programs; computer and
video training, workshops on HIV/AIDS, human rights,
leadership, African music and dance. Target groups are
youth, men and women living in slum areas.
-
A small museum within Creative House
illustrates the life conditions in the slums.
